Happy 4th of July! It’s raining at our house today, but we are forging ahead with our plan to smoke some ribs. Yesterday, we headed out to visit friends in Chickasha. Chris and Elesha invited us to go go to a cookout party with them at Scott and Pam’s. We had a great time. The best part was quite possibly the view. Scott and Pam live out in the country. Nathan and I both grew up in the country and we sure miss it.
Just the simple view of cows grazing in the field makes me happy these days.
Fresh cut flowers on the kitchen table always makes me smile. That’s E. Scout in the background.
We had beer brats and oven roasted fries. These fries that Elesha and Pam made were fantastic.
The highlight of my day had to be these beauties …
I’ve thought of about a thousand great Jack-Ass jokes I could put into this post. Then Nathan reminded me that I’m dealing with professional joksters and should just appreciate these donkey’s for what they are or beware of paybacks.
CUTE is what they are! Apparently, they love mini-wheat cereal and complain loudly if Scott and Pam don’t have some available.
It was great to get out of the city. Today, Nathan and I are having a quiet day at home catching up on chores and smoking ribs.
What did you do to celebrate the 4th of July?
