Shovels and Rope on a Tuesday Night

I wondered what would inspire me to post next. I have taken a hiatus lately to posting. We have been very busy. Our cabin in the woods is a lot of fun and a lot of work. My job is — well, let’s just say it’s not a lot of fun, and it’s a lot of work. We still cook as much as ever, but I don’t seem to write down the recipes much.

I decided to post because I saw an awesome show this last week at the Blue Door. My friend Camille and I went on a Tuesday night. Let me just tell you that going out on a Tuesday night is kind of a big deal for me. However, the band Shovels and Rope was playing. So, I sucked it up and made myself go.

I really like this band.

Here’s what I like about them. A large portion of their songs are uptempo. There is no chance to get bored. They switch instruments almost every song. She drums, then he drums, then she plays guitar then they both play whatever instrument they pick up … it’s fun to watch. Plus, the best part is they look like they are having a great time singing and playing music together. I first listened to them on this video on YouTube.

One of the best parts of this night was getting to see my friend Heather who now lives in Tulsa. I haven’t seen her in so long and I should have known she would be a Shovels and Rope fan too. She made the drive from T-Town to OKC and I got to see a great band and hug her neck! Bonus.

I must say that Shovels and Rope totally made it worth going out on a Tuesday night because I woke up early Wednesday morning tapping my foot.
