About

This photo sums us up!

What is Dirtshoe?

It’s a term a friend once used to describe things that are organic, home-grown, hand-made, earthy, etc. My husband and I both grew up in the country and we think the term Dirtshoe helps us reflect on those red-dirt roads of our youth.

Who are we?

I (Misti) am a school administrator who enjoys writing and photography. After growing up helping my grandparents with their cattle, I started writing about the sport of rodeo while in college. I eventually edited a small national magazine that covered rodeo and spent many years promoting and writing about the sport. My career doesn’t allow me to travel or be involved much anymore, but I have many wonderful friends and memories from my rodeo work. I also enjoy music and was a freelance writer for a magazine that covers Texas/Red Dirt music for some time.

Nate is my husband. He’s a musician and artist in many ways. He remodels homes as an occupation. He excels at cooking, fishing, gardening, building furniture and picking on me. He’s a true Renaissance Man though he hates being called that!

You should also know… I’m a little bit country and he’s a little bit rock-n-roll.
